Courtney Mroch, your Sociable Scribe

Courtney Mroch began blogging as a Pets Blogger for Families.com in 2006. It didn’t take long for her to establish a readership. By the end of her first year, she was netting well over 12,000 hits per month.

In 2007 she asked to also contribute to Families.com’s Marriage Blog. That helped her monthly hits average 50,000.

At the end of 2008 Courtney left Families.com to pursue other goals. However, she was forced to put them on hold when she was diagnosed with Stage 2 B-cell non-Hodgkins lymphoma on December 31, 2008.

As part of her “get off the couch” campaign to aid in her cancer recovery, she decided to start her own blog: Haunt Jaunts, a travel blog for restless spirits which provides a passport to paranormal tourism for ghost enthusiasts.

She’d learned a lot about blogging during her time at Families.com. (Thanks to her fabulous mentor, Lisa Pietsch.) She poured a lot of that knowledge into developing Haunt Jaunts. However, she also learned a few new tricks along the way.

Specifically, how to use social media to market and grow her blog readership. (Something that proved a bit more tricky, she discovered, since she no longer enjoyed the benefits of a blog network like the one Families.com had provided.)

So far she’s experienced everything from mixed results and wild successes to abysmal failures. But no matter what she’s had a total blast navigating her way around today’s top social media circles.

Thanks to her escapades, she also realized what powerful tools blogs make for businesses of all shapes and sizes. Yet, even with as many blogs as there are on the Net today, not all are being utilized as well as they could be.

Fascinated by all the layers of social media networking and marketing, and excited by all the possibilities it represented, Courtney decided to explore it via a new blog.

Hence, the Sociable Scribe was born and with it Courtney’s newest freelance endeavor as a blog consultant.

That’s right, if you like what you read in her posts but don’t have the time to create or implement your own social media strategy, Courtney is essentially a blogger-for-hire. Check out the Consulting Services page for more info.

Otherwise, enjoy the musings found herein as posted regularly by your Sociable Scribe, Courtney Mroch.
